September 25th at 6pm

The Beacon @ Pell City FUMC

After spending the morning with  District Leadership, Bishop Wallace-Padgett, the North AL    Conference Delegation and the Cheaha District Op Team will lead us in a time together that will include: a recap of the Commission on a Way Forward and Council of Bishops work, information on how participants can share with North Alabama delegates their perspectives on matters related to the 2019 General Conference, and a time of prayer and praise. Please let Ed, Donna, or Stephanie know if you plan to attend.

The Council on Bishops invite us to:

1. Pause and pray for our church’s mission and way forward for four minutes from 2:23 through 2:26 a.m. or p.m. OR at another time each day. (2:23-2:26 correlates with the special   General Conference scheduled for February 23-26, 2019, in St. Louis, Missouri.) The suggested prayer focus is

*    for our increased effectiveness in reaching others for Jesus Christ

*     for the 2019 General Conference to find a way  forward that honors our Triune God.

2. Engage in a weekly Wesleyan fast from Thursday after  dinner to midday on Friday. Those who have health situations which cause food fasts to be inadvisable might consider   fasting from a favorite activity like social media, emails or  eating desserts.

Mark your calendars for upcoming conversations that will have specific topics of focus:

October 10th   The One Church Plan

October 24th   The Connectional Conference Plan

November 7th  The Traditionalist Plan

In January we will begin having conversations on what each plan might mean for Huffman UMC.
